Finally Done With The Surgeon!

March 31, 2009

Cymbre has a CLEAN BILL of HEALTH!!!! Hurrah! Yippee!! The surgeon says she can do anything she wants, dance, bike whatever. AND she can eat what she wants, and use a straw again.

We couldn't have gotten a better report from him today....about time is all I have to say.

Now instead of taking care of her, I will go on a hunt for Bert and Gretchen costumes for the Mary Poppins productions. Somebody has it in for me with costumes this year! When I find that someone, it's going to be messy.

If I Was A Curtain Tieback!

March 29, 2009

OK, Dad and I cleaned up half the family room yesterday, you know Spring Cleaned...and that meant that we had to take down and wash the curtains. That's a BIG JOB for dad as he has to get the ladder, unscrew the rods from the brackets, and then unscrew the balls off the ends of the rods, and then deal with the beads that I have on the curtains. Then we finally get the curtains down.

While we were doing this I was thinking of my blog and how I like to write about silly things, so here we go about curtain tiebacks.

I've decided it must be somewhat boring to be a tieback, I mean you have to stay in one position all the time, and you can't even move your tail to swish the dust off your face if it happens to land there. If you have a bow, your little arms must be constantly numb because you can never move them unless mom comes and reties your bow because somehow it's gotten crooked. (That ceiling fan can do some strange things when it really gets blowing!) However, there are all kinds of things to watch....there's Disney on TV (which is mostly what our TV watches), Dad working on his laptop (we tiebacks think he must be someone important because he seems to always be hooked up to that mysterious box!), Cooper dancing, or just standing there with her leg up over her head, and Cymbre just laying there saying her throat hurts. Then there's Mom, who comes to lay on the couch when Dad is snoring, and she puts that foot up on the back of the couch(which she says helps prevent the swelling of her toe), but we tiebacks think she is some kind of contortionist! Have you seen that toe lately....still pretty swollen if you ask us! If we really want to shake things up, we look real dusty and Mom gets out that Swiffer thing and tickles us clean....that's about as much excitement as we can handle for a while! Sometimes we get to watch the family play Uno Attack, and they seem to love it when Dad hits the button and tons of cards fly out at him. Except, then he gets that card that lets him trade his hand with Mom.....and Mom usually has just a card or two. She makes him pay with kisses.....but that's another story. We have seen Dad lay on the couch for nights at a time while Cymbre was comfortably sleeping in his side of the bed recently. Mom gets out those pins and does her thing with tulle, and just the other day, she actually used our tails for sticking her pins in! Can you imagine the pain! The suffering! The total astonishment of it all! We decided that the next time we get a bath, which may be a long time since mom gets out the swiffer or sometimes even that ticklely thing on the end of the vacumn, we are going to switch curtains! That will just fix Mom, she won't know where to stick her pins! If she wants to stick us, she will have to get up and move down the couch and then stick us. (Or maybe Mom will just use the tiebacks we've switched with!) We must admit, she doesn't stick us very often, just when the pin box falls on the floor! The most exciting time to be a curtain tieback is when the hurricanes come....then they untie us and tie us way high up.....it seems that without electricity, they need to let the light in from outside. Then Mom just leaves us that way, because with 3 tiebacks on each curtain, and 4 curtains in the room, she just doesn't feel like retying us for night time. And some of us are scared of heights! We feel like we are clinging on for dear life....our tails just flapping in the breeze from the open doors to let some air in. Hurricanes come with some hefty breezes even after the storm is over, and the family comes out of the hiding closet. We did get a great view of Mom with her foot up due to lack of ice and working on Baby Jack's crocheted blanket during hurricane Ike! She worked until she just couldn't see anymore, and then they turned on those candles on sticks, and the oil lamps. What dejection we felt, as we were working so hard to let in light, but they turned those candles and lamps on anyway. Do they have no regard for our feelings? Don't they realize how tired we were using muscles that we don't usually use...I mean we were getting kinks in our necks instead of our elbows! And what about our tails just flapping in the darkness....some of us are scared of the dark too! Sometimes those mayfly bugs like to land on our tails, and then here comes Dad with the paper to swat them. Some of us still have bruises from the swating...Dad never gets the bug the first time! (He claims it's something about how they like to fly away...we think he just likes to torture us!) We are happiest when the holidays come around and Mom puts some decorations around the room for us to look at, and Britni comes home and bakes cookies with Cooper and Cymbre. We love the smell, however, no one ever thinks that the tiebacks might like some cookies! What's with that? Come to think of it, they never feed us, they just work us to death, take us down to wash us, then scald us with the iron, spray some that the starch stuff on us, and hang us back up again. The inhumanity of it all! Isn't there some sort of family counseling they should go to to learn how to treat the curtain tiebacks? Or at least give us some respect? We should protest! Maybe if we had mouths, we could make some noise! That would fix the family, they couldn't watch TV in peace because we would want to watch the home decorating shows, and those kids just like Disney! We could rally all the curtain tiebacks in the entire house and plan a strike...that would leave the family in total darkness! We could walk out, if we just had feet....well, it's a nice plan anyway.

OK, I am taking back the computer! It seems like the curtain tiebacks really have some issues, and I guess I better take them for some counseling....maybe we will stop at the feet store on the way home. I could use some new curtains anyway...so let them walk away....

Cymbre's Surgery Photos

March 28, 2009

Here's Cymbre's surgery photos, and her recovery.....at least now she is getting dressed! She's made it to school all week, but comes home EXHAUSTED, and mom has to go take ice cream twice a day....and tylenol with codeine. I am looking forward to next week when hopefully, she will just need regular tylenol sometimes. We see her surgeon again on Tuesday.

This is supposed to be fun you know, eating ice cream, jello, pudding, snowcones....don't think she's impressed!

Talking to Sissy on the phone.

Snuggling Sister Weinken, her favorite primary teacher!

In the recovery room, eating ice chips.

Ready for surgery! No pokes until she's asleep....how does she rate?

We Made It Through The Week

March 28, 2009

We have survived the week, and whisper voice is once again sleeping in her own bed!!! Everybody celebrate! I am hoping by Monday that I don't have to go to school four times a day....and that the nurse will just give her the tylenol if she comes needing it.

We went to Sweet Tomatoes last night...hadn't been there in a long time. Even Cymbre managed to eat to her fill, so we were all happy. Mayby now, she can feel better, and we can get on with other things.

I am just about done with the petticoats for Ladies Choice, then have to do the Wig ribbons, and the dresses....they won't take to long. Have some hemming to do of formals for the Cadette Dance next weekend, but that won't take but a morning. THEN I AM DONE SEWING until I get my closet cleaned out. It's almost hurricane season again, and we have to have a place to hide from the tornadoes. Since Christmas, my closet has been a big mess. And that's where we hide, under the stairs. Throwing it all away and starting over seems easier than cleaning it!

Cymbre will be back in dance this week.....thank goodness...she has been really bored. Cooper is looking for a boy who is a friend who would dance with her, but I don't hold out much hope. I mean, Uncle Gary isn't even in town, and they won't let Dad. Guess we will see if she can convince one of those football players to dance with her.

My foot seems to be a bit better, and I found these foam Mary Jane sort of shoes at Walmart that I can actually wear....it is truly amazing. Still doesn't bend right, but we are making progress there too. And the numbness in my face is a bit better too....so much for 6 weeks to be gone there....at least it's progress.

Guess that's about all the news for today....must get busy, we are washing curtains today.

Popsicle Patrol

March 20, 2009

Ok, I've decided that it isn't easy being on popsicle patrol! First you have to get out of a very groggy, speak in whisper voice what kind of popsicle.....then when you stumble out to the kitchen at 2am (only about 1/4 awake yourself), you tend to open the freezer drawer to far and it rolls on your swollen toe! Then you need ice yourself, but there isn't enough because old whisper voice may need it for her snowcone in an hour! Anyone who wants a stock tip, buy blue snow cone syrup stock...we seem to be buying it ALL this week! Sorry, got a bit distracted there...lack of sleep...anyway, then you stumble back into the bedroom and you have to wake up the popsicle queen one more time. It's amazing what phenergan and tylenol with codeine will do to a kid. You go to the bathroom, a quick trip, and return to the bed to find the popsicle slowing beginning to melt having fallen out of the cup you brought with it because the patient has again fallen asleep. At least it's on Dad's side of the bed! And he is in San Diego. And the Patient doesn't wake enough to know the difference. Just wipe it with a rag and get on with the business at hand. Then when you do get the patient to be coherent, she doesn't want that kind of popsicle, she wants the Sister Weinken rainbow one! Bless Sister Weinken for bringing them, and since they are almost gone, I will have to actually put on my clothes and go to Kroger and buy another box....(there's another stock tip!) There is one benefit to being popsicle patrol....jammie days! SO, after all this drama at 2am, we finally get some popsicle and ice water down the patient, and Cooper hand feeds her from her water....she tries to lay down and sip water, another true adventure in keeping the sheets dry! Thank goodness for beach towels. At least we use them for something because we rarely go to the beach. We give her more codeine and reset the alarm for another 4 hours, and everyone settles in to try to get back to sleep....not a problem for the whisper kid. However, for the rest of the popsicle patrol, we are now WIDE AWAKE, so we turn on the TV and watch George Lopez, and Home Improvement until we fall asleep which happens to be about 3 1/2 hours after our ordeal started! Then in 30 very short, quick minutes, that dumb alarms rings to start the ENTIRE process over again. At 6am, we do the snowcone routine, and that works a bit better, but we are still hand feeding the little invalid....could she possible be any more sleepy....and where is that surgeon who decided that we have to keep her eating and drinking all this clear stuff anyway. Does he not realize, while he's home sleeping away, that we are torturing ourselves trying to follow his instructions? Does he even have children to realize just what his instructions entail? This has been going on since Tuesday! We are hoping for a reprieve when Dad gets home tonight....although I just looked at his travel plans, and he won't even get back to Houston until after 10pm. By then the little patient will be firmly ensconced on his side of the bed with all her rhinos. If he's smart, he won't uproot them...he might get stabbed! I don't know, but Cooper and I think Dad gets to be popsicle patrol tomorrow!

Just another funny story....Cymbre started throwing up last night, and since the surgeon didn't want her to do that, I called the phone number he gave me. The lady who answered, after I explained my problem and that she just had surgery, put me on hold and got the doctor on the phone. It's not our personal surgeon, but one in his office. So then we are having a conference call, me, the lady who answered, and the surgeon. We tell him what's going on, and he decides that we need some phenergan. He said he would call in some oral medicine, to which I ask, how is that going to stay down when I can't get water to stay down? Duh! Well, then he says, "Scratch that, I'll call in some suppositories. Go get in your car, I'll tell them you are on your way." So then I have a problem, I'm NOT taking a throwing up kid in the car and driving 40 minutes to a 24 hours pharmacy (because of course, we couldn't do this during office hours!), and Dad is out of town....or he would be going to the pharmacy! SO, I call the neighbor around the block who called and wanted to help. She came right over to stay with Cooper and Cymbre, and I got some clothes on and went to the pharmacy. First obstacle hurdled! Then because I was sure the surgeon didn't get the spelling of the Cymbre's name, I was sure that they wouldn't have started processing the medicine. I was right, I walked up to the counter, and told them who I was. The pharmacist tells me he was sure I would be coming to them since he was sure that the paitent wasn't named SIMBA! Oh my goodness! We were both laughing as I gave him the right name, insurance info, and address, phone number. Then he says, "you look really sleepy" I told him that I hadn't slept much in a couple of nights, and would probably fall asleep while I waited the 20 minutes for him to fill the perscription. He said he would page me when they had it ready. So, I go wandering around the store just to keep myself awake, knowing if I sit down and sit still, it will be all over! After about 20 minutes, I hear this page: "Mrs. Flanagan, if you are still awake, we have your perscription ready!" It was SO HILARIOUS! The entire pharmacy staff and myself were laughing when I got back to the counter and told them my name! I paid for my medicine, and my dry roasted peanuts, and left the store. Second obstacle hurdled! Now the biggest problem was convincing the patient that we needed to do the medicine to settle her stomach so that she could keep her popsicles down....after much convincing we managed, and about 1/2 hour later the popsicle patrol had to swing into action! All this is going on after 10 pm. So really I should have typed this story before the other one, but lack of sleep is obviously affecting my writing abilities! Oh well, you'll just have to deal with it. Or you can come be on the popsicle patrol yourself.

March 19, 2009

Well, the surgery patient is miserable! That's putting it mildely! I guess the old third day after surgery is the worst day is true. We are trying to get cold things in her, but today she is resisting. Caleb tried to call her, but she was feeling like she was ging to throw up, so Cooper told him to call her back tomorrow. I was at the store getting some ice.

Thankfully, the neighbor is going to take Cooper to dance and bring her home for me tonight. I've ask several people, but none were interested....thank goodness the neighbor is willing. Last night I had to put Cymbre in the van and drive over and back twice....she wasn't a happy camper. Tonight we don't have that. Bless the Scottish neighbor!

Dad will be home tomorrow, so maybe we can all get some sleep then...I'm not holding my breath!

Cymbre's teacher from school emailed her, she wanted to come visit, but isn't feeling good so she is going to just pray for her and stay away. She will be glad to see Cymbre on Monday if she makes it to school. At this point I may have to buy her a white board and some markers since she isn't doing much talking today.

I made some progress on the petticoats, but not much. Got one ruffle sewed on, and another almost pinned. I still am keeping with my opinion of Tulle. I hate the stuff. I need to invent something that looks like it but is much easier to handle.

Got the tan tap shoes in the mail, now I just have to figure out what rhinestones to order, but will wait until the end of the month. Hopefully, I'll have the costumes mostly done by then.

Cooper is having Taylor over to hang out today...she is getting so bored helping with Cymbre and working on her school project. Thank goodness for some dance friends that like to come and just dance.

Well, I'm on popsicle patrol so I must go. Think we'll try a fudge one this time.

One Night Down!

March 18, 2009

Cymbre and I made it through the night, but around 2am it was pretty tough going. Dad called to let us know he was in San Diego, and she needed her medicine, and she was really hurting and crying. She wanted to go back and not have the surgery, but I told her it was too late. She just wanted Caleb to call her. She had been expecting to hear from him all day. I managed to get her medicine down her and half a popsicle and some ice water. Then I just snuggled her until she fell asleep again. She slept fitfully, but we managed to make it to 6am before we had trouble again. More tears, popsicle, medicine, ice water...back to sleep until around 9am. THANK GOODNESS! I really needed a couple of hours.

Today Cooper seems to be a good distraction....they are watching movies and Cooper helped her take a bath and get her hair wet without getting it in her ears. Now they are eating snowcones. I think I will have to go buy a bag of ice later today since I had to take the ice trays out to fit the popsicles in. I'll just run to the gas station on the corner.

Cooper has dance tonight, and since I can't find anyone who has time to take her, I will put Cymbre in the van laying down, run Cooper, come home, and then do it all again to pick Cooper up. I've learned who not to call let's just say. It's ok when they need something, but to return the favor is not something they want to do.

Dad will be home on Friday. Hopefully, Cymbre will be doing better by than. She was glad to have Papa call her this morning, and Ms. Andee. At least this afternoon, she is sitting up to watch TV. They are watching Mulan. She wants the Heffalump movie, but I think I only bought one, and Shyla has it. I may have to see if I can rent it.

Well, must get busy on those petticoats, they aren't making themselves.

Exhaustion Takes Over!

March 17, 2009

Exhaustion has taken over for Dad, Me, and Cymbre! Up early to go to the hospital, then the surgery, home, ice, medicine, popsicle, ice, juice, medicine, rest, phone call, ice, popsicle, jello, snowcone, medicine, ice, juice, snowcone! We are tired!

Poor Dad, has to get on a plane late tonight and fly to San Diego for meetings for the next three days. Home late on Friday. Hopefully, by then Cooper and I will have Cymbre feeling better.

I think some of us will be having a jammie day for at least the morning. We get to babysit baby Conner for Ms. Andee while she takes Cooper to the studio for an hour tomorrow. That will be a fun distraction for Cymbre. She loves that baby. And since we can't have Jack....we have to find a subsitute!

Thank goodness for Spring Break!

The surgeon says that Cymbre did really well, THANK GOODNESS. Maybe now once she heals she can just feel better...she has felt so lousy for the past 6 months.

I used two spools of thread gathering those petticoats for Ladies Choice last night. Got the waistbands made too. Tonight, if I can gather the energy between trips to the freezer, I will work on putting the ruffles on the waistbands.

Cooper has gone with Kendall to dance down at the MET tonight. They won't be home until around 10pm. Dad doesn't get to San Diego until about 2am. Poor Dad! He has learned how to sleep on the plane, but it's not the same as a bed.

I am just going to put Cymbre in bed with me, and set my alarm for her pain medicine. I'll get her something to drink everytime one of us stirs. It will be a LONG night.

Guess that's about all for today. I did take some pictures at the hospital which I will post when I get around to it.

Thanks for all the prayers in Cymbre's behalf. She is looking forward to Sister Weinken coming in a little while. That's her favorite primary teacher from when she was three. She is coming to snuggle Cymbre on her way home from work.

Have a good day.....

It's Monday, Thank Goodness!

March 16, 2009

Well, with the help of family fasting, everyone we know praying, and temple prayer rolls, and priesthood blessings, we have managed to keep little Cymbre healthy. Tomorrow is surgery day, and we have to be there at 6am for surgery at 7:30am. We will ALL be glad when this is over for her. She will have a rough Spring Break, but maybe she can finally feel better!

Everyone, say your prayers and also pray that the doctors will be guided....Thanks so much.

I have been making receiving blankets this weekend for my Grammie box. Also found some really cute baby outfits. Don't have much pink stuff, but will work on that with the next paycheck. This check is paying the hospital.

I am starting Ladies Choice this week since we won't be going far anyway. I am also finding some friends to keep Cooper occupied while Cymbre rests.

The pharmacist told Cooper today that she needs to dress up in her tutu and be Cymbre's little helper ballerina. She can come dancing in with her medicine and food. It made us all laugh. Sister Wienken, Cymbre's favorite primary teacher wants to come visit her tomorrow night, and Ms. Andee will call and check on her tomorrow afternoon.

Cymbre let Grandpa Petersen know, so he can be awake and worrying I guess. I will call as soon as I get a chance to let him know he can stop worrying.

Guess that's about all the news for tonight....except we got Baby Jack the cutest Wall-E outfit today....I'll bring it when I come for graduation, and snuggle time. So Baby Jack, save up some snuggles for Grammie.

Love you.

Just Puttering

March 12, 2009

Cold and rainy here...HURRAH!!! At least for a few days, we get to not be hot and sweaty!

I've cleaned up the kitchen, family room, and sewing room. Now I am washing towels and the material for Ladies Choice, the duet. Ordered the tan tap shoes, and the briefs. Just have to figure out what color rhinestones I want and get them ordered too. Now I am off to look for the patterns and to make sure the pieces from 3-4 patterns will all fit together to make the costume I have pictured in my mind. Most times it works, but not all the time. I usually have to alter Cymbre's somehow. That kid is just a little half-pint!

Cymbre passed her pre-op checkup yesterday. No sickness yet....keep those prayers a coming. We have to have her healthy or they won't operate. I have all the perscriptions for antibiotics, pain medicine, and ear drops which I will fill on Monday. And Dr. Toung is ready to deal with a rhino in the operating room. Good luck there!

The new dryer is a commercial size thing and it drys the clothes just about as fast as the washer washes them. It's really amazing. I keep going in there to make sure the thing is running because it is so QUIET! I'm used to having to tame the dryer into submission just to get it to dry clothes and stay put in it's spot in the laundry room. The old one wanted to walk around everywhere while it did it's work. And it wasn't very good at doing two things at once. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how the thing walked around much considering it was propped up on a 2 x 4 in order to not make the noise quite so loud. So how did it walk 6-8 inches out of it's place? The other day it almost smashed into the refrigerator that sits in the laundry room. Now, with the new one, you can stand to be in the house or even the kitchen without getting a migraine! A marvel if you ask me. I can manage to get all the laundry done in an afternoon now, which is truly amazing.

Dad is going to San Diego on Tuesday after Cymbre's surgery....I told him I wasn't doing surgery alone again. I did it with Britni, and didn't like it! He was in England at the time. At least San Diego isn't as far away, and in a similiar time zone to call him.

Cooper is having Kendall stay over the night before, and then spend the day with her. In the afternoon, Kendall's Mom will pick them up and take them downtown to attend Kendall's Ballet and Jazz class. Cooper can dance too as long as her foot doesn't hurt. Ms. Andee says going to the MET will be good for Cooper. I just have to find out how much she needs to pay for the classes. Then Beverly will bring her home after 9pm just in time for her to help me with Cymbre.

Ms. Andee is going to work with Cymbre on Friday evening so that she doesn't forget all her dances while she can't dance for the next two weeks, and then sometime next week she will get together with Cooper after she doesn't have to wear her boot anymore.

Guess that's about all the news for now. I have to go get some material out of the boxes and in the washer. I want to cut out tomorrow. So it all has to get washed today.

Everyone remember that serving someone brings you happiness....go out and get some happiness today.

Remember that Mom and Dad love you very much. Those in contact with Baby Jack, make sure to give him some Grammie and Grandpa hugs. Throw in a few kisses from his Aunties too!

Love you.

New Dryer

March 6, 2009

After months of trying to fix the dryer, and finally Dad going to Maytag for a new one we have a brand new one.

They brought it this morning, and I started with a very tiny load just to see if the darned thing was going to do what the other one did. That other thing started to walk across the floor with each load even while propped up on a 2x4! Thankfully, it's gone, and the new one seems so quite. I guess it should after the terrible noise the last one made!

I think our battles with broken stuff and money owed us are over for a while.....I hate it when we have to do that kind of stuff all the time. I like life to just go along nicely, which almost NEVER happens since we live with Dad's black cloud.

Today Cymbre was home with what I think is a migraine headache. She was just crying this morning, but finally we are getting it under control with caffeine and Cooper's perscription tylenol with codeine. I am going to talk to Dr. Ermac about what they give kids who get migraines. I felt so sorry for her. I rubbed her head, she sat in the tub with the bubbles going, we put her in a dark room with no noise and still she cried. Thankfully, she's been able to have an easy day and they don't dance tonight so we are just at home. She did help cut up the potatoes and eggs for potatoe salad, so Dad can tease her that he has been poisoned again!

Just a few snaps and rhinestones and Stand Out is done! HURRAY!!! Cooper and I should have it done later today. I was cooking all morning or it would be done already.

Cooper wants to make a skirt this weekend to wear on Sunday...we have the material washed, and a pattern....she just needs to get to work. Cymbre wants to make Sister Weinken an apron...guess I need giraffe material for that.

I've decided that we need Baby Jack to snuggle tonight. That just seems like a good Friday night activity for Grammie and Grandpa and two Aunts don't you think? I think Caleb and Holly should just run him over...Cymbre has a new rhino outfit for him I need to get in the mail.

Well, that's about all the news for now. I'll get photos of the Stand Out costume when I make her put the whole thing on when it is done. She is so excited to compete that dance. She has worked really hard to make up her own choreography with Ms. Andee's help. I'm interested to see how it does at competition next time.

Have a great day, and hug each other for Mom and Dad. Especially Baby Jack!

I WON!

March 5, 2009

I actually won the get your money back battle! After a week and a half of calling, emailing, and finally making a pain of myself on the phone, I got my money back.

We ordered a dance DVD at a convention about 6 weeks ago, and they told me they would have it to be by two weeks ago. Well, it didn't show up, so I began calling to find out what was going on. They didn't return phone calls, didn't answer emails, so I called again. They again said they couldn't help me because the video people were out of the office. They said someone would call me back. Didn't happen. I emailed again...nothing. I called and left more messages...nothing. Finally, this week I called left a message, and an hour later when I hadn't heard anything I called again. This time I was insistant that someone talk to me....I wanted my money back now. They passed me to accounting, which I can't figure out why they even have an accountant since they can't do anything. I finally ended up with the head of the company who told me they couldn't refund my money while I was on the phone. I had a FIT! They can take your money on the phone but can't give it back..what the heck? Finally he agreed to send me a money order overnight express. I told him I better have it or he would hear from the Better Business Bureau and a lawyer. I got the money order! I won! One point for made mom! I will never do business with Break the Floor again.

Maybe I should take on Maytag over my new dryer they are supposed to deliver sometime....who knows when. In the meantime, the old one gives you a MIGRAINE every time you turn the thing on.

We got the judges tapes on the girls solo performances at Star Systems. They didn't have a whole lot to say, and the girls were just 100ths of points from platinum. They were glad, and the judges liked the costumes. That makes my day since I spent hours making them. I tried to put the video of them dancing on my blog, but can't get it to do it....I'll keep trying. Maybe I'll ask Cymbre to try. She is good at pushing buttons and getting it to do what she wants.

Today is just a get things ready to mail day, and finish up that Stand Out costume so Cooper can start stoning it tonight. Just a little bit left to do. She is bored not being able to dance with her foot, so stoning will be a good thing for her to finish up. Then on to Ladies Choice.

Dad mowed the lawn, and now it looks much better....picked up the dead leaves so it doesn't look so junky. He fertilized, so it is turning green again...I like it better when it's really green even though it really is just a patch of weeds. We don't like Augustine grass.

I have been working on collecting some more things for my Grandma box...even bought some more material to make another little boy blessing outfit when it's needed. Guess I will make a little girl one too just for fun. After the costumes that is. Found some really cute flannels on sale for blankets.

I set up twitter accounts for the girls....they have been bugging me. So then I had to set up one for me to keep track of the girls. I won't be writing on my very often....however, I am GrammieNan, Cooper is CoopsDogBones95, and Cymbre is Babygirlrhino for those who want to follow them.

Well, must clean up the sewing room, we can't walk in there at the moment without tripping over things, and that's not good for my foot.

Have a great day. Dad and I love you very much.

Cymbre's One Liners

March 4, 2009

Cymbre is constantly stating one liner facts and cracking us up. Well the other day we went to see the ear, nose and throat doctor and she took her stuffed rhino Louie. This isn't uncommon as Louie usually goes to the doctor with us.

Later that day at dinner, Dad ask her if the doctor has looked down Louie's nose with his camera, and Cymbre just looked at him with this serious look on her face and said: "He couldn't, Louie was too stuffed!" We all just cracked up. She does it without even thinking. And most of the time it is aimed at Dad.

Cooper says her foot is feeling a bit better, but you can't tell by the bruise. She is certainly frustrated that she can't dance, and has had about enough of walking around with that surgical boot on. I know how she feels.

Cymbre is healthy at this point, keep saying your prayers.

We all survived TAKS test day at school. Cooper finished hers in 45 minutes, and then spent the next 4 hours just sleeping or sitting there....what a waste. Especially when they missed that week for the hurricane! Cymbre finished hers in a hour or so, and then did the same kind of thing until all the kids were done. Then they at least let them go to PE, and then they made cards for the lady who the school is named after. Seems it was her birthday. Give me a break! Our tax dollars at work! We wouldn't actually want the teachers to have to teach the kids anything to earn their paychecks. After all we live in a foreign nation down here.

Dad is getting the yard into shape for Spring....I don't think my one hybiscus plant survived that hurricane. And it was my really pretty one. Cymbre and I will have to make a trip to Lowes and find her plants, and a new hybiscus for the front yard. I like those hot pink ones, and they are hard to find.

They have finally finished Spring Cypress out here in front of where we come into the development. THANK GOODNESS. I am so tired of dump trucks and cement trucks turning around on our street.

Well, I have to call the dentist and the orthodontist to move Cymbre's appointments during Spring Break. I don't think she will be in any condition to go see them. Oh well.

Then I am going to finish that Stand Out costume today. Then Cooper can stone the thing. We made the hat over the weekend, so it's just the vest elastic, and the arm bands. I'm so glad that thing is about done....tulle and I just don't get along well.

Costume parts have started arriving for Ladies Choice, the duet....that should be an easier costume, however, there are two to make. And yes, there is tulle involved. I think I should reform the dance world and do away with tulle. Maybe I will start a campaign.

Well, must go change the laundry. Everyone have a great day.

Love you.

Results!

March 3, 2009

Well, we managed to make it through one day without anyone getting sicker, hurt, or worse! Somehow, it seems that everyday something new happens.

Cooper and Cymbre both got high gold for their solos. Ms. Michelle was her usual 2 year old self, and Ms. Andee was wonderful with the girls. They had a great weekend, and saw and talked to lots of their Hintze friends no matter what Michelle was telling them about not talking to Cooper and Cymbre.

Mr. Lenorris was there, and was cheering the girls on and hugged on them when they came off stage. It made the girls feel good to have 5 teachers there for them. That's three more than the Hintze girls had, so who's on the better end of this mess? I'd say Cooper and Cymbre.

Cooper may have a stress fracture of her arch on her foot. We can't be sure, but the urgent care doctor is treating it as such for the next two weeks. If it's still hurting at all at that time, we have to go back and get it x-rayed again and go from there. The worst part is she can't dance for two weeks. That will kill her! It's 6 weeks until we compete again.

Well, I must get the competition stuff cleaned up....more later.
