Today's Update!

May 28, 2009

Cymbre and Dad saw the knee surgeon last night....he is sending her to get an MRI at Dad's insistence. We have that done on Tuesday morning early, and then back to the knee Dr. Guy told him we have to figure out what's going on...7 weeks of rest hasn't helped.
School just goes until June 3, and then we are free as birds!!!!! YEAH!!!!
Dance recital is June 13th, and Girls Camp is June 22-25, and Hall of Fame Nationals is June 29-July 3 in Chicago.
That means that June will be gone before we know it....and hopefully, we won't be dealing with knee surgery in there.
July starts the dance company stuff for the next year, and Cymbre's birthday.
August is Mom's birthday....guess I better start thinking of stuff for my birthday list. I already know one thing...a family photo frame from Hobby Lobby....Cooper knows what it is.
Cooper can bend her neck again...thank you muscle relaxers.
The ironing is DONE!!!! I even put little notes in Dad's shirt pockets....and he recycled one and left it on the counter for me. I'm not sure about recycled love notes! Although, he did add hugs and kisses at the bottom.
The Closet Cleaning is DONE!!
I even worked on my CEU's for a long time today....I have 26.50, just have 10 more to do. Then I will be actually .50 over what I need for the last two years.
Russell set up a baby guessing website where we went and put in our guesses for the baby. If you want to guess, go to Shyla's blog where she put the link, and then go guess. Her blog is on mine at the side "The Instrumentalist".
The mending is next...that basket is NEVER empty. I might have to panic if I finished it all...I mean what would I look forward too?
Well, must run and get ready for Cooper's awards night....
Have a great day.

Back To The Grind!

May 25, 2009

Well, in the morning it is back to the old school grind! By this time every year, I am so tired of the school routine. I just want to call it quits, and besides, the kids are doing anything all that great at school anyway.
Some of the finals are already taken, and Cooper is taking her coloring book to school everyday now. I think in 8th grade, they should keep the kids busier than letting them color all day. I guess I am just old fashioned.....what happened to learning up until the last day when you got to just party. Now the partying starts two weeks before the last day.
My closet is FINALLY FINISHED! It took a week, but I didn't work all day everyday. Now I can finally rotate the food in the emergency kit, and find something in my closet. I found a pile of photos that haven't been labeled, so I am hoping that Dad's memory is better than mine. If not, they will just be the mystery vacation photos.
Cymbre sees the knee surgeon on Wednesday this week. She is still in quite a bit of pain, so we will see what he says. It's been at least 7-8 weeks of not much activity, so he's got to do something for her. Probably MRI, here we come.
Cooper is getting over her neck sprain...what a pain that was for her. She couldn't hardly bend her neck for days. Muscle relaxers and heat helped a bit, but time was the biggest help. No dance kept her home, but she is managing to dance now. Thank goodness, Mary Poppins wouldn't be much without Bert!
Cooper's black pointe shoes are here, and so is her chimney sweep broom....that was hard to find. Dad is painting it black so it will show up more....it came silver.
We went to the outlet mall they have built for the first time today. Ms. Christine took us, and we had a wonderful time with her. She doesn't have any girly girls to go shopping with, and they have all the best stores (Aeropostle, Juicy Coutoure ?, Tommy Hilfiger, Carter's) and of course we stopped at all of them. Cooper has been saving her money for months for a Juicy Coutoure purse, and she found what she wanted today. We also got some Aeropostle jeans for $5.99, and t-shirts for $10. At Carter's we got some baby things for $3-5....not bad I say. Cymbre also bought some things with her money....a Aeropostle sweatshirt, and some stuff at Tommy Hilfiger. I bought myself an outfit at Coldwater Creek, which is an event for me....I never buy a whole outfit. It's a skirt and sweater for church. Christine had some VIP coupons she let us use which gave us %'s off, which made some really good deals. I came home and signed up for the VIP coupons since I assume I will be back out there at Aeropostle for school shopping.
We have registered the girls to go to Hall of Fame National Dance Competition in Chicago the end of June. We will see what happens with Cymbre, and we may have to ask for some money back based on the Dr.. However, Cooper has been invited to dance in the opening number, and that's a big deal. They only invite those they give scholarships to. However, if Cymbre can dance, they will let her dance too since her sibling is coming....I guess they don't make them just sit there without dancing. That's nice I think. We will be going all on our own with no one from the studio. It will be nice I think. I can just get the music turned in, and pick up the scores, and there won't be any drama...a new thing for us recently. Andee is so proud the girls qualified to take their dances.
I did some ironing tonight, and now my back is telling me...guess it thinks I am to dumb to know....oh well, there's always my numbing patch!
I am determined to get some things caught up around here, and organized, and stuff we aren't using gone. After working for 5 years, there's a lot to get caught up on.
This week I have to finish getting Bert's costumes together, and if Cymbre can dance, I have to make her two dresses. And I have to finish up my CEU's for my coding certification. They are due in September, and I don't like to wait until the last minute to do them.
Britni is working on updating her resume, and Dad is helping....we need to get it mailed out to some people if she wants to leave Tulsa this summer. We are hoping that she won't have to many problems getting a job since she has her LPN license already. Everyone say your prayers for her to find something. It will be a job to get her moved somewhere though.
The girls both have awards ceremonies at school in the next week or so, and both are getting awards. Cymbre's are at the Middle School, so that will be her first look around for next year. She's been there with Cooper, but going on her own is a totally different story for her.
Dad and I finally get to graduate from 5th grade this year....after 29 years of kids! Either we are a bit slow, or we've just got to many kids! No more elementary school programs, parties, volunteering, boring meetings, etc. We think we just might have to celebrate, by going to Middle School! At least we aren't the oldest parents in the meetings there....some people actually have older parents than our girls. Can you imagine? The horror of it all!
I guess that's about all the big news around here for tonight. I guess I will go lay on the couch under the ceiling fan and watch TV for a little bit before I go to bed. Dad is already in there...snoring!
Everyone have a good week....give each other hugs for Dad and I, and remember do to something nice for someone who doesn't know you.
Love you.

My Clean Closet!!!

May 22, 2009

All this week I have been working on cleaning out my closet....it hasn't been done since I broke my foot, and it really needed it. Here's some of the finished product...there is still a pile outside the closet that needs sorting. It's mostly scrapbooking stuff that needs to be organized from trips, competitions, and just life in general. Dad has some buckets in the garage for me to use....I just have to climb around and get them, or bribe Dad to get them for me.

These drawers hold craft stuff and cards to send people and some travel size games.

Portions of our 72 hour kit, which is the reason I had to do this in the first place. With hurricane season upon us, I needed to rotate food and medicine, and make sure the girls clothes still fit them.

A hanging clothes space.

Photos, linens..

If I would send the kids their baby books, journals I wrote for them, scrapbooks, and photos I would actually have room in my closet for my things....one of these days!
Well, must get back to the closet cleaning....Dad likes to move piles of stuff for me when he gets home (not really, but he does it anyway).....and I need a trip to CAM to drop off all the stuff we are donating this time. Bye Bye clothes I don't wear, and all those Spider Man Valentines. I even found some stuff to add to my Grandma box....guess there were treasures in there afterall.
Bye!!

It's Monday Again!

May 28, 2009

We are back from the Urgent care center one more time. Cooper has a neck sprain. All she did was turn her head yesterday when she woke up, and she was in pain ALL DAY. I took her in today, and they have given her some muscle relaxers in addition to the heat and tylenol we were already doing. However, no dance until it feels better.....not what dance teachers want to hear.

Cymbre did a talk in primary yesterday, and did a great job....it was on baptism..

Cooler here today, but the humidity will return the end of the week with a vengence! Ah yes, summer in Houston.....thank goodness for two air conditioners on this house. We still sweat, but no quite as bad, and we get to pay to do it....how does that work?

I got a haircut today, and after school we are taking the girls in for one....I really like the little lady that does mine, and she did a great job on the girls. So I will take them again.

Guess that's about all the news for today....I am going to fire up the old sewing machine later....guess since I have the costumes done, and Mary Poppins parts aren't all here I will just work on something I WANT to do rather than HAVE to do. Grammie box here I come.

Well, everyone have a great week....Holly feel better. Give your smiles away to someone....it will make their day.

Love you all.

The Countdown is On!

May 15, 2009

The girls are now counting down the days until June 3, which is the last day of school this year. It's been a VERY LONG year for Cymbre, and I think she is glad for school to be over. Now if we can just get her knee to feel better. She has been out of dance for weeks, and it's still not doing much better. That new brace holds it better, but the stuff inside just doesn't seem to want to feel better. Guess we will see what the knee surgeon says on the 27th. It does kind of leave all the summer dance plans up in the air....but it's what we have to do.

Cooper took her text books back today, so that must mean learning for this year is over....still a couple of weeks left....guess we are just playing away the rest of the year. We wouldn't want our tax dollars to pay the teachers to actually teach the kids. The curriculum doesn't allow for that. The teachers are willing, but they have to follow the rules. As long as we past that TAKS test, the politicians think everything is fine.

We finally won't have anyone in elementary school next year.....THANK GOODNESS. We finally managed to graduate from 5th grade after all these kids. No more school volunteer hours to log, just show up with lunch a few times a year and everything is good.

I have getting boxes ready to mail to Britni (medicine thing she left in the car, magazines) Shyla (afghan I made her) Caleb (stuff for Baby Jack). Once I get the costumes in order for tonight for pictures I am going to run to the post office and use the little machine in the lobby. So ya'll be watching for your boxes, and let your mom know when you get them.

Found some really cute lady bug material for my Grandma box yesterday....I'm thinking a cute little dress for a granddaughter....Shyla just needs to cooperate!

Cymbre got a good report from the surgeon on her tonsils. She is looking great, tubes are doing their job, and her hearing is not fading out near so much. He thinks the medicine the knee doctor put her on for inflammation has helped reduce the swelling from her surgery and so the hearing is returning. Good theory anyway. We keep saying our prayers though.

Girls at the dance studio are doing the yearly thing of wanting to do duets, trios with Cooper and Cymbre. We'll see how many pan out. There's only so much money...and I don't want to make thousands of costumes.

We think we got some really cute pictures of their solos and the duet last night....the photographer that has done them for years was at Koenig, and she always gets a great picture of them. I am anxious to get them back. We go for more class photos tonight, but I don't ususally buy those.

Dad left me the car today, so I don't have to sweat!!! Guess it's that time of year again. He parks the van in the covered parking, so it isn't so hot for him to drive. He needs to get the air conditioning charged anyway. The girls enjoyed the ride to school today in the air conditioning.

I may go to the fabric store later since I have the car, and my hair won't wilt. I need to get it cut, but there just isn't time today with the costumes needing packing for tonight.

Well, not much exciting news....just recovering from last week. Thank goodness all that medical excitement is OVER!!

Everyone have a great day. Take a gooey brownie to someone.

Love you.
