The Countdown is On!

May 15, 2009

The girls are now counting down the days until June 3, which is the last day of school this year. It's been a VERY LONG year for Cymbre, and I think she is glad for school to be over. Now if we can just get her knee to feel better. She has been out of dance for weeks, and it's still not doing much better. That new brace holds it better, but the stuff inside just doesn't seem to want to feel better. Guess we will see what the knee surgeon says on the 27th. It does kind of leave all the summer dance plans up in the air....but it's what we have to do.

Cooper took her text books back today, so that must mean learning for this year is over....still a couple of weeks left....guess we are just playing away the rest of the year. We wouldn't want our tax dollars to pay the teachers to actually teach the kids. The curriculum doesn't allow for that. The teachers are willing, but they have to follow the rules. As long as we past that TAKS test, the politicians think everything is fine.

We finally won't have anyone in elementary school next year.....THANK GOODNESS. We finally managed to graduate from 5th grade after all these kids. No more school volunteer hours to log, just show up with lunch a few times a year and everything is good.

I have getting boxes ready to mail to Britni (medicine thing she left in the car, magazines) Shyla (afghan I made her) Caleb (stuff for Baby Jack). Once I get the costumes in order for tonight for pictures I am going to run to the post office and use the little machine in the lobby. So ya'll be watching for your boxes, and let your mom know when you get them.

Found some really cute lady bug material for my Grandma box yesterday....I'm thinking a cute little dress for a granddaughter....Shyla just needs to cooperate!

Cymbre got a good report from the surgeon on her tonsils. She is looking great, tubes are doing their job, and her hearing is not fading out near so much. He thinks the medicine the knee doctor put her on for inflammation has helped reduce the swelling from her surgery and so the hearing is returning. Good theory anyway. We keep saying our prayers though.

Girls at the dance studio are doing the yearly thing of wanting to do duets, trios with Cooper and Cymbre. We'll see how many pan out. There's only so much money...and I don't want to make thousands of costumes.

We think we got some really cute pictures of their solos and the duet last night....the photographer that has done them for years was at Koenig, and she always gets a great picture of them. I am anxious to get them back. We go for more class photos tonight, but I don't ususally buy those.

Dad left me the car today, so I don't have to sweat!!! Guess it's that time of year again. He parks the van in the covered parking, so it isn't so hot for him to drive. He needs to get the air conditioning charged anyway. The girls enjoyed the ride to school today in the air conditioning.

I may go to the fabric store later since I have the car, and my hair won't wilt. I need to get it cut, but there just isn't time today with the costumes needing packing for tonight.

Well, not much exciting news....just recovering from last week. Thank goodness all that medical excitement is OVER!!

Everyone have a great day. Take a gooey brownie to someone.

Love you.

Mom
