Just Me And The Laundry!

August 25, 2009

Today has been a fairly calm day after the chaos of yesterday. We were in a constant rush yesterday from the time I picked up the girls, fed them, ran to the store for school supplies for Cooper and a few things for Cymbre. They did homework, and then we rushed to dance, rushed home to make dinner, back to dance to drop of Cymbre and feed Cooper. Then home again, after another stop for gel pens at Walmart. Why does the teacher want gel pens...they run out of ink a lot faster than the ball point ones do.

Tonight we have the same routine again, but hopefully, we won't have to go to the store. We barely made dance yesterday.

The girls seem to like their classes, but the school didn't give Cymbre her stuff she was supposed to bring home to get signed...they give it out during 7th period and she leaves school before that. So I called her counselor, and they are going to sort it out today.

We have decided to go with Dr. Hagan for the new orthodontist, so the girls have to go get molds, x-rays, whatever. He is going to try to get the records transferred, as since the last one lied to us, we don't want to deal with her anymore. Dad will go sign a release if necessary, but we aren't meeting with her again.

We bought the baby some tiger jammies....and a purple stripped dress. Grandpa really likes the jammies.

Really hot and muggy here...will be glad for winter. Maybe we will cool down to 60's! Won't that me nice!

Well, must run for some thread to match a costume....and then get the girls.

Have you made someone else's day yet? If not, get out there and do something for someone!

Just The Dust Bunnies, Dust, And A Stray Lizard Or Two!

August 23, 2009

Well, it back to just the dust bunnies, dust, and the stray lizards at the house with me all day! How depressing! Those lizards really create a ruckus when they get in the house. They love to hide in the ficus tree pots, and then they spring to life just as you walk by. A REAL frightening experience when you almost step on them, or when they run across your foot! I guess it's time to keep the old vacumn handy....I suck them up, and then when Dad gets home, he empties the vacumn canister! A very good arrangement if you ask me. I learned long ago that you don't try to swat lizards....they tend to break in half, and then you have two halves thrashing around....NOT GOOD! And you have to get them, both halves before they make it behind the file cabinet in Dad's office. I can't pull that thing out...to much paper inside it. (Yes, another thing I need to clean out) Leaving the little thrashing parts isn't good either, they just begin to smell. I haven't figured out why the ficus tree pots are so much fun, it's just styrofoam covered with moss...but maybe lizards are just styrofoam fans! Those little brown lizards and trickly little guys....they like to come in in pairs! I mean how do you chase two lizards going two directions when you are only one person armed with one vacumn? So, what I do is throw the front entry rug over them...that at least slows the little buggers down, and then you have to choose...do you try to vacume them up, scoop the rug up hoping that you manage to trap both of them, or jump up and down on the lumps squashing them! I tried scooping last time, but NEVER again..I almost got two lizards down my nighty! Maybe what I need is Dad to stay home on lizard patrol. He keeps threatening to retire....it would give him something to do all day.

And speaking of Dust Bunnies....there's a hugh population of them behind my sewing machine....guess it's time to pull it out again. I hate that job! All the thread falls off the rack, I find straight pins on the floor, then get out the vacumn, wash the windows, vacumn the blinds, and put everything back. Leaving them to multiply isn't good either...that just makes the girls sneeze. It's really a no win situation. I actually killed off about a million dust bunnies this weekend....I moped all the tile, and got all the corners. Had to prepare for the lizard wars! And I can't kill of too many dust bunnies in a day because there has to be space in the vacum for the stray lizards when they decide to show up. It's just a vicious cycle!

So, watch out for lizards and dust bunnies this week!

Just A Short Update!

August 22, 2009

This is going to be just a short update because I am still have very painful fingers! It's been over a week, and they are still quite painful...I am thinking I may need to go get them x-rayed. Not what I needed this week...everything that twists, bends, or grabs is almost impossible for both my hands. I can't even get my own medicine because of those dumb caps they put on them. Thank goodness for Biofreeze...that's the only reason I do things.

The girls are going to work on their solos with Andee again today...they are looking great! As always, Andee is wonderful with them.

Fall dance classes started this week, and I am not sure that Cooper will be able to teach all the 4pm classes they want her do. I think she may still be doing homework...we will see how things go this next week. Homework is first....so we'll see.

Haven't figured out how to be in two places at once time to pick the girls up, but I think I may get Cymbre first and then go for Cooper. Then I will try the other way and see what works best. One of them will have to wait while I drive from one school to the next.

Made some progress in dejunking some more stuff this week....stuff from the weddings that I don't want to store, and some things in the bathroom....I plan on continuing this next week. If I do a little each day, then spend some time sewing, everything will get cleaned up and sewn.

I am getting a box of baby things ready to send to Shyla....I think I about have everything together to fill one up again. We bought some cute things at the outlet mall this week...she said she didn't have them when we called her.

Dad has been mowing, edging, etc. today.... He's also made my ladder for my seasonal decorations...I just have to get the wire to make the x's that hold the things on.

We had three armed robbers in backyards on our street this week...all kinds of sheriff's and dogs, and even an ambulance for the policeman who ripped up his leg. Dad went out to get the paper, and decided to come right back inside since he heard police yelling about " there someone goes". Turns out 3 guys from Dallas tried to rob CVS right here on the corner with guns, and were trying to get away. So when Dad went out to go get the paper, they were hiding in yards right here. The Sheriff came to the door a few minutes later to talk to Dad to make sure he belonged here. They told everyone to stay in the house, lock the doors, and turn on our alarms. They got one guy in the yard across the street, and found the second one later in the day...but the third one is still on the loose. Thankfully, no one was shooting people when Dad went outside. None of the Daddy's left on time for work as the Sheriff wouldn't let them. And then when they did, they were searching the cars. When they came through our yard, they broke some of the brick on Cymbre's flower beds. I saw the police bring their dogs in our yard a couple of times, but they didn't break the bricks. In some of the other yards, fences were kicked in, and now will have to be replaced. Sort of a scary start to a very early morning on Thursday! The police are still coming through the area...maybe they are looking for weapons or something....we don't have any in our yard. Although police dogs make a mess of flower beds!

In other excitement, the car was held hostage in the garage for several hours one day this week. I was going out to take the girls to Goodson to do Cymbre's registration and stuff, and the garage door wouldn't open. I called Dad, and we tried our best to open it by hand, but in the end, Dad came home. I called a garage door place and they sent someone right out, but I left with the van as soon as Dad got here. The man came right after Dad got here, and the door was fixed by the time I got home from school. A very expensive spring....turns out garages are only supposed to open and close twice a day. Then the spring will last 7 years...that's it's total life span. That's worse than a washing machine!

I hope that's all the excitement for a while around here....although Cooper still has to make sure her off campus PE is straightened out since she can't possibly do it first period. The dance studio isn't open at 6:30 am....DUH! Those counselors just don't read what they make the parents fill out. They said they hoped they could fix it....I told them they didn't have a choice.

Cymbre needs new tap shoes.....guess I better get Dad to get the box out of the garage. If not, I need to go to the store.

That's all for today.

Wedding In The Dining Room AGAIN!

August 16, 2009

Well, somehow the wedding stuff moved back into the dining room while I wasn't looking....I'm not quite sure how that happened, but there has been an explosion! It is further complicated by Cymbre's sewing mess which now that dance is starting for the year, it looks like I will have to finish....in that case, it can move to the sewing room.

My fingers are finally starting to bend again, but everything is still very painful if there is any pressure involved! Dumb school lockers....Cooper is going to have to help Cymbre with her's this week....I refuse!

Dance starts this week, and Cooper is teaching several nights a week...we told her that her homework is first, and if she is feeling rushed, exhausted, or to stressed the teaching is going to get cut down. We will see how things go.

Seminary starts next week with school, so the girls will be really tired. Everyone say your prayers that Cymbre's knee won't give her fits this year. And keep saying them. Guy is going to take Cooper to seminary, and then go on to work. That means he will be home later. Dinner will probably be in the car for the girls and I, or I will take Cooper and drop her off, home for a very quick dinner, and then take Cymbre back. We'll see, but whatever we do, it's not going to be fast food every night. I may be employing my crock pot more this year...which means I have to get it back from the wedding.

The dresses we bought for costumes this year are fine with Andee....thank goodness. That means that I don't have to start from scratch, and can get most of the costumes done pretty quick once the girls go back to school next week. However, I am going to play Grammie first and make a blessing dress. And another little surprise for our Granddaughter to be.

Shyla: I talked to McCall today...she is so excited for the baby....and so is Ms. Christine, and Jeanene Christensen. You would think they are the grandmas!

Cooper caught Rachel's bouquet at the reception, so today at church everyone was teasing her about when her wedding is. Dad kept telling people we have to marry off her older sister first. Britni: I guess that means you!

Cooper had a great time at the youth dance this weekend. Several older guys asked her to dance, and then when it was swing dance time, Cole Gunderson and her did it again....she said they had some problems because they didn't remember every step, but they had fun anyway. That's the second or third time they do the swing dance competition thing at the dances. Se loves the dances, and seems to not lack for guys asking her to dance....gee, could it be they think she can dance? She makes the tall ones dance on their knees so she can reach them...they seem to cooperate. I think I am glad Sister Weinken is there also. Cooper has a fan club you know...and a major youth following! Kind of a Caleb thing you might say. Only LOTS more kids.

Cymbre is getting excited about going to school to look around this week....I hope she can carry all those heavy textbooks! And I hope she gets a bottom locker, otherwise, I will have to go get them to change it....she can't reach the top ones to open them. I told her she may have to hire some of Cooper's groupies to be her body guards and help her get through the halls! Some of Cooper's pals will still be at the middle school this year.

Guess that's about all the news for tonight....I am sad this is the last week to have the girls home...the days get so long and quite when I am home alone all day....

Have a great week, and call your mom....

Never, Never Try To Open A Locker At High School!

August 15, 2009

Well, the girls and I went to the High School for Cooper yesterday.....and after fighting with her locker for an hour, and even the operations man coming to help....she finally figured out how to get the thing open. It's really picky, and now I have two very bruised index fingers to prove it! I can't hardly even move my fingers on both hands without tremendous pain. The joint is bruised and swollen, and Dad has to help me get undressed and dressed! Do you know how hard it is to do anything without your two index finders? You have to pick up a drink like a little kid, you can't sign your name because you can't hold the pen right. It's hard to drive the car without bending your fingers, and tying bows on chairbacks for Rachel's wedding reception just further aggrevated the situation. However, the chairs look great! And I spent the night with my hands in ice! Today I am wearing elastic waist pants because I can't button the other kind! See where helping people gets you....no more lockers for me!

This morning the girls and I went to Costco for Sister Wood (driving isn't very easy either)and bought all the groceries for the reception she needed there, and then took them to her house and our house to be cold until time to go to the church. Cymbre had to drive the cart because it's hard to steer when you can't grasp the cart properly.

The reception is looking a lot like Russell and Shyla's with the trees with white lights, white tulle draped places, rose petals. They are using white table clothes and fresh rose petals on the tables....we used ours in the tulle. They covered every other chair, and we tied tulle and ribbon around the backs of them. It looks pretty. They are using Shyla's candle holders on the gift table like we did, and she borrowed all the serving dishes we used. It's at the West Road building...I had never been there before. Dad took all the ficus trees over last night while I had the girls at the dance studio.

Well, I am going to stop typing since I can't use two of my fingers....this has taken forever! Curling my hair for today was a real challenge too....who knows what I will look like tomorrow for church!

Have a good day...and Shyla: Rachel looks beautiful...she said to say hello to you. Her husband is a nice young man too.

Tuesday!

August 11, 2009

Today the girls and I went down to High Fashion to look for material to doll up their dance costumes....as usual, they always have something we love. For Cymbre's purple dress we found this sequin material to add to the bodice, and some beaded trim to just finish the edges. For Cooper we got some black lace with green flowers, and some black chiffon to bring out the black just a bit more....then we are taking the belt that hangs from the top and making it the belt on the pants! Just started all these costumes with $25-$40 for clearance prom style mini dresses, and we are going to turn them into full length dress for Cymbre and tops for Cooper.

SO

Now I can make four costumes rather quickly, and I don't have to do a bunch of cutting out! That's always a good thing from my point of view...However, I do have a brand new cutting board to use....thanks to Dad for my birthday. Now if I can just find a sharp pair of scissors, we can really get going. First I have to make the baby her blessing dress. And I have some materials to make pj pants.

SO

That means the old sewing machine better decide to work properly this year. No surprises, no broken body parts, no dying!!!

Guess that's about all the news for today....tomorrow we are seeing another orthodontist, and then it will be meeting with the Dentist to make some decisions about what we are doing with the girls.

SEW, let's get busy!

Love you,

Mom
