June 23, 2009
Today is Russell and Shyla's anniversary...doesn't seem like 2 years. Seems like I just got all the reception stuff put away!
Cymbre is loving student assisting in dance classes this week for Cooper....I think she may steal a class to be her own. She is also loving having Ms. Andee around. Tap classes were wonderful tonight if you hear Cymbre talk about them....Thank Goodness!
I have to go stand in line to renew my driver's license tomorrow. Doesn't run out until my birthday, but I don't want to wait...who knows what would happen if I did.
Had my teeth cleaned today...and for once I don't need any work done! Thank Goodness! I get so tired of them working on my teeth, and I do try to take care of them...but no work this time. The girls went last week, and they don't need anything either. Now we just need allergist, eye, and dr. appointments before school starts. Guess we will see if Dad lucks out at the dentis now.
Cymbre is having friends over tomorrow, so she should be ok without Cooper around...so far so good this week. Then on Thursday, she will work with Andee on her solo stuff for nationals. Friday we go to pick up Cooper and some other girls.
We found a cute, ruffle buns sleeper outfit with ballet stuff on it for the baby. Got it in a tiny size since the girls think that she will need dance clothes in all the sizes. They have already bought a pretty good stash of dance stuff...they are hoping their neice will be a very girly girl! That's quite unlike her mom! And besides, we think Russell deserves a really girly girl to play Pretty Princess with, don't you?
Guess that's all for tonight...except that Papa broke his ankle in three places and needs surgery...Way to go Papa!! You should already know that foot surgery is a real pain! Everyone, say your prayers that Papa will be ok.
Bath time, and I am taking my book with me....Dad can play with Cymbre the rest of the evening.
Love you.

Another Wedding!
June 21, 2009
I talked to Sister Wood at church today, and I guess I am going to help her with the decorating for Rachel's wedding....how exciting! I asked how it was going, and she just said that you have to do something everyday...I told her I knew the feeling! I told her about all the stuff we have left from Shyla's wedding, and she asked if she could borrow some of it....I said gladly. She wants to see pictures of how we did things, so I have spent some time this afternoon finding some of those pictures that Sister Vest took of the decorations. I also told her I still have several of the ficus trees, and the list of who I borrowed them from....and the lights, and the tulle. (Somehow tulle manages to get into most everything I do!) The reception is August 14th, and Kim asked if I would come and help her. Of course we will....She told me she has material to make dresses, and asked about round table clothes. I remember well, all the preparations. Thank goodness Russell's Mom did the Utah open house. I couldn't have done them both. So, it looks like some of that stuff will get a second chance to be pretty. Dad will have to go up and help me dig it out of the corner.
Cooper goes to camp in the morning, and while we will miss her, it will be fun to have just Cymbre at home. Maybe Dad and I can think of some fun things to do with just her. She says she is glad Mom will be home with her because she doesn't want to just go to Lowes with Dad all the time! I think we are going to be doing a bunch of sewing....the bug seems to have bitten these two girls. They turn the dining room into their sewing space, and I make them clean it up occasionally.
Cymbre and I are also going to figure out how you pack 6 costumes and accessories into a suitcase without smashing anything....that will be interesting. Cymbre found these bags that you roll the air out and pack in a suitcase...maybe we can condense those petticoats and such and get them in a smaller space.
Dad and I went to see The Proposal with Sandra Bollock. Cute movie. I like to go see the chick flicks with Dad....we always get the same seats in the theater. Last night the place was almost sold out. All people like us. Not too many kids.
Cooper did a wonderful job on her father's day talk in church today...now Brother Christiansen thinks Dad walks on water....he was checking at church. She wrote most of it herself, and I just helped to expand things a little bit.
Dad likes the new grill we got him for father's day....it's a bit smaller, and he is going to keep it in the garage to prevent rust. That leaves a problem for Cymbre's flowers in pots. She usually sets them on top of the grill...maybe we will have to get her one of those little tables that you use for potting plants to set her things on next year. The growing season is almost over now, it's just to darn hot!
Well, one of the families we knew is now moving to the studio where we are now. They have two little dancers, and we are glad to see them again.
Summer dance starts up this week, and Cooper has been working with Ms. Casey on her pointe solo for nationals, and they have started a musical theater pointe solo for next year now. Also Ms. Casey will be in Chicago when we are performing, so she is going to try to see Cooper compete her Bert's Song solo if she can get away from work. That's very exciting to Cooper. Me too, because that means that she can warm her up backstage! And I can see from the front! Cooper really loves Ms. Casey. Both girls are also super excited to have Ms. Andee teaching the tap classes they will go to this summer and fall....the girls at Koenig are in for a treat with Ms. Andee.
Cymbre's knee is holding it's own. She still wears her brace, but it doesn't hurt like it did, and we are hopeful that she will be able to continue to dance more and more each day. Say your prayers! It would be wonderful if she could dance painfree soon.
Dad is finally feeling better after his cold....but his cough lingers forever...although he doesn't sound like he is coughing up his lung now.
Well, I guess that's about all the news for today....we hope all the Dad's we know have a great Father's Day. Just for today, we are trying to "Obey Gravity, it's the law" around here.
Remember, do something kind for someone....it will make your day.
Love you.

Ahh, The Crazy Lazy Days Of Summer!
June 18, 2009
The girls and I are REALLY enjoying the crazy, lazy days of Summer! We get to sleep in, (one of Cooper's favorite things). We get to dance when we want upstairs. We get to sew to our hearts content. We made pasta salad, cake, and brownies all in one day! We get to drive the air conditioned car!!! That's a biggy with the girls. Dad takes the van to work early, so it isn't so hot, and parks in the covered parking all day so it isn't too bad when he comes home. He got the air conditioner in the van serviced, so now it works better anyway. We can have friends over to dance and "hang out". Cooper gets to go to girl's camp next week. Cymbre and I are having "sewing camp" at home next week. She has chosen a dress pattern she wants to make....a bit more difficult that baby blankets and burpie rags. Cooper just made four pairs of shorts to go to camp. She chose some crazy materials from my cupboards, and has done a terrific job. Her biggest problem is when she puts the elastic in the waistband, she always gets it turned. It happens to all of us, but now she makes me do the elastic before she sews it in. I finally figured out why Cymbre's sewing machine kept jamming all the time. Now she is sewing miles of thread! I think I finally got two with the sewing bug! Maybe some day they will make their own costumes.....in the distant future! We can clean out the drawers and get rid of all the too little clothes. Dad's big on getting rid of everything we have outgrown. We can watch all our favorite Disney shows, and then watch them again! It seems our TV mostly watches Disney...I think there must be something wrong with it. Cymbre can catch up the ironing....she loves to do it. Something's wrong with this situation! Cooper can reread Harry Potter for the 20th time....and watch her movies. The magnolia tree in the backyard has all it's beautiful flowers, the hybiscus is in full bloom in the front yard, and the petunias are dead because it's just too hot! We can go to Sonic for ice cream during Happy Hour, and Mom gets her cherry limeade for half price! We get to get teeth cleaned in the mornings instead of after school, and see the allergist, and get our eyes checked, and make sure our shots are up to date. We get to dodge the June Bugs by the back door....still better than fighting the Love Bugs! We can have as many JAMMIE DAYS as we want! We can call Papa when we want during the day. We get a break before dance starts up again for summer classes. We get to eat Cymbre's tomatoes, and strawberries. We get to see Ms. Andee again for summer dance classes....that's a very good thing. We can go to the movies at the matinee times and prices....Dad likes that. The best part, we get to just RELAX!!!! The girls don't get that much time to just do that during the school year.
Well, since I am still in my jammies, and the bed needs making, and we want to go to a fabric store that is closing, I better get going.
Have a great day, and do something unexpectedly kind for someone today. We love you bunches and bunches.

Recital Over!
June 14, 2009
"Yesterday began early and finished late. It was recital day, and we had rehearsals, then the Dance Company show, recital, and Mary Poppins. The girls both did a wonderful job on their solos and the duet. Cymbre managed to get through her stuff with some soreness, but today, we did the ice and she says it is feeling a bit better. Keep your fingers crossed. They got the biggest cheers for their solos and the duet. And then at the end of Mary Poppins, Cooper got a really big cheer and shouts! She did a terrific job as Bert! We are so proud of both of them. Now we wash and repack costumes for Nationals. We leave on the 28th. So this week will be full of solo and duet rehearsals with Ms. Andee, and Ms. Casey. We had a hard time getting out of the school last night after Mary Poppins. Everyone was stopping Cooper and telling her how wonderful she was. It made her feel good about herself. I had so many people talk to me, that I can't even remember who most of them were. You might say we are very anxious to get the DVD of the show. I for one want to see if from the front instead of backstage changing costumes. I helped five girls change costumes, while their moms sat in the audience. What's wrong with this picture? I guess the girls at least learned that Ms. LuAnn will help. I am always back there for Cooper and Cymbre, but just once, it would be nice to watch from the front. We even managed to get the tap shoes changed in a couple of 8 counts from jazz shoes and back on stage! I think I will watch from out front during Nationals. I'll check them in and then when they get in the wings, I'll run. Well, I'll try to run if my foot cooperates!
This week is dentist cleaning appointments, and get Cooper ready for girl's camp. Cymbre and I are picking them up from camp....that is always interesting! Also running the solos with choreographers, and getting stuff ready for the trip. Also Father's Day, and for those who want to know, Dad wants Lowes gift cards. He wants a new grill. If you want, send me the money and I'll just get one card. Guess I better get the Father's day cards in the mail tomorrow, which means I have to find one that says "guy" on it for Dad too. That's been a challenge this year.
Almost have all the CEU's done for this year, then just have to send the renewal fees and email the CEU's to the AAPC. What a pain it all is. Then I do it all again next year....
Well, must get busy getting all these sweaty costumes taken care of....
Have a good week.
Love you,
Mom

Busy, Busy Busy....Summer

We went to Dillards looking at baby girl things, and came up with some cute things....here's photos so Shyla won't buy the same things....
Some overalls and a denim jumper with onesies to go with them.

A Tiger rattle for Grandpa, A rhino rattle for Cymbre, and Lady Bugs for Grammie...
A Flag dress for Cooper, and some very snuggly jammies.....
This is Cooper's current sewing project...shorts for girls camp. Here she's playing Erckle from that TV show Family Matters. Cute!!!
Today we are going to lunch with Sister Christensen for visiting teaching, and getting the Mary Poppins costumes together for another dress rehearsal tonight....wish us luck. I am making the last pair of suspenders out of some polka dot ribbon. Should be cute!

Ahhhh, Summer Time!
June 9, 2009
THANK GOODNESS IT'S SUMMER!!
We are loving the no alarm clocks, no schedule, do what we want days we FINALLY are getting!
Today, we just puddled away the morning, and then went to lunch, Pizza Hut buffet, and got Cooper's glasses fixed. Then went to Dillards, and found some really cute little girl baby stuff....some really cuddlely jammies, and some lady bug clothes, and a flag dress....photos later.
Then Cooper had to go to dance for a little while, so Cymbre and I went to the Container Store and found some things to help us pack all these costumes for nationals. They all have to fit in a suitcase instead of their garment bags, and the jewelry has to be condensed, and so does the make-up and hair stuff....still have to figure out how to transport all the hats and wigs....also got Britni a couple of birthday presents at the Container Store....but she will have to wait to get them and find out what they are.
Now home, had sandwiches for dinner, and am about ready to go take my bath and put this dumb toe up. Today is feels like it needs to pop, but fake joints don't do that, and so it's sore. A bit more swollen, so maybe I'll do my ice cast for a little while.
The girls have been using their sewing machines, and there was a news story on tonight that people are making $150 per kid for a weeks worth of classes....I think I should open a store to just teach sewing. I might if there weren't so many crazy people out there.
I cleaned up the sewing room, but haven't started to mess it up again. Have to get through recital this weekend before I want to start anything else....have to pack a million costumes ONE MORE TIME....and then just half a million for nationals. It's the making sure you have the right tights, jewelry, all the costume parts that's so irritating when you have to wash them in between wearing them....guess we could go for the smelly tights routine, but I can't stand for the costumes to smell, so I use febreeze on them every time they wear them and wash everything I can. This year we have an abundance of TUTU's and big petticoats. Those are uncontainable! Then when you get them all packed, you have to put them in performance order and label everything.....that makes recital go smoother, and then you number everything so that when you are done, you know what goes out to the van when. Keeping track of the shoes is a completely different problem.
Well, not much other news....just have to finish getting Britni's birthday ready to mail....didn't get it done on time for Sunday, but we called to let her know.
Have a good week.

MRI Done, Waiting Begins!
June 2, 2009
Cymbre's MRI is finally done, and now the waiting begins. She will see the knee surgeon tomorrow afternoon, so we will see what he says then. I looked at the Scan photos they gave us, but since I don't really know what to look for, I haven't got a clue what's wrong....they are cool photos though.
Well, must get going on laundry, and costume packing.
Bye.

Back To The Doctor Yet Again!!
June 1, 2009
Took Cymbre back to the doctor today....she has Strep! The kid just can't win! They wouldn't let her go back to school until she has been on the antibiotic 24 hours.....GREAT! The doctor doesn't know that I refiill a perscription we had, so she has actually been on medicine for 3 days.
She has her MRI on her knee in the morning...I can hardly wait to get the results from that. With the way things are going around here, we just can't wait.
At least Cooper is better and back dancing.
Hall of Fame sent me the confirmation that the girls are registered for Nationals. Hopefully, Cymbre will be able to go! Everyone say your prayers.
My week will be full of packing and repacking costumes for recitals. They have dress rehearsals this week, so that means extra packing for Moms. IF I can just get all the tights with the right costumes, and manage to change Bert very quickly, we will be fine. Why does Cooper ALWAYS get the very fast costume changes?
I think we all need to buy stock in Velcro...I'm using it on ALL her costumes.
I looked in the ironing basket, and can you believe it...there's some in there again. I just finished it! I even did it as I did the laundry....but Guy didn't do it on Saturday when he finished the laundry....I think we need to quit wearing all clothes that require ironing. We will have to be naked from now on except for our underware!
It's hurricane season yet again...stock up on water, canned food, gas for the grill, ice, and change out the stuff in the emergency kit. At least we can get to the kit now since I cleaned out the closet. Dad got the generator here, so we can at least run something with it when the power goes out. I need to get some more oil for the lamps too. Still have the candles. I hate hurricane season....to much stress when those storms form, and people running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Always keep the gas tanks full, and keep topping them up when the storm forms. What a pain! And I need to get gas and oil for the generator....think that will be Dad's job. And I need some matches and batteries. And make sure we have all our medications in good supply. The pharmacies make a bundle this time of year.
When all the preparation is done, then it's just wait for it to come....sometimes the waiting just gets so frustrating. Those weather guys try, but they can't always be right.
If we can keep our roof until November, we will be lucky again this year!
Cymbre has her 5th grade awards tonight, and Cooper has Mary Poppins rehearsals. Guess I will do the school thing, and Dad will do the dance thing. The DVR will do the Bachelorette thing.
Cooper got a Presidential award for excellence in education. She got a letter signed by Barack Obama, and a pin along with her certificate. She can march on the field at an Astros game to be honored with the other kids in Houston, but since that's on a Sunday, I think she won't be doing that. She also got an Honor roll award, and a Spanish award. The Presidential Award is because she has been on the honor roll for every grading period for three years. That's quite an accomplishment these days.
I am ready to sew some Grammie things, but am waiting on Shyla to find out what the little baby will be....hopefully on Wednesday.
I've almost got my CEU's for the year done...thank goodness...I don't like going to all these meetings, especially when I am not coding at the moment. Who knows if I will ever code again, but I am not taking that 5 hour test again, so I keep the certification valid.
Guess that's about all the news for tonight....must get ready for awards.
Have a great week, and give your smile to someone who could use it. A hug might not hurt either. I'm sure you can find someone who needs one if you just look a bit.
Love you bunches, and bunches.
Mom and Dad
