This Has Been A Week!

Sunday, September 2, 2007

This has been a very busy week with school starting and Dad out of the country. I almost quit my job at the studio, cut out curtains for the dance room upstairs, and was almost really hurt in a car accident.

School started last Monday, and by Wednesday the girls were both so tired they could hardly see straight. Cymbre ended up fussing at the studio that she was too tired to dance, so I just let her do her ballet, and sit out the rest. Even though Cooper was tired, she was determined to attend each of her classes, even Pointe, and teach the ones where she is the student teacher. By Friday, she had a blister the size of a quarter on the ball of her right foot, so that has grounded her for the next few days. That's ok since it is a holiday weekend, and we don't have dance on Monday!

I finally figured out what I wanted as curtains upstairs, and cut them out. Then I was ready to sew them, but in my drawer of thread (which probably has 500 spools) there wasn't one that would match the material for the curtains. Just what are the chances of that happening? And if that can happen, just how many colors of thread are available in this world? Even a trip to Wal Mart to get some thread didn't come up with the perfect matching color. So I bought two different ones, and will decide when I actually sit down to sew. Actually the color I need is growing outside the office window on the crepe myrtle tree. The flowers on that tree are the perfect color! Now I just have to figure out how to turn the flowers to thread, build the factory to do it, and then pick all the flowers (probably need the whole neighborhood's bushes full) and then hire some workers, (hopefully not illegal aliens) and make my own thread. Then I can sew the curtains. At that rate, it will be past Christmas when I finally get them done. That means that none of you should plan on pajama pants for Christmas this year. I will be busy making curtains!

We finally have the pictures from Shyla's reception! Miracles will never cease!! Dad will be working on the cd's for family members this week....I hope he gets everything done. That's the last thing for the wedding I have to cross of my list.

I almost quit my job at the studio because Ms. Michelle thought she could just do what she wants, and not follow rules. Well, it made me very angry when she stuck her nose in the girls duet, so I told Ginny I don't get paid enough to deal with Michelle's garbage, and I was considering leaving. Needless to say, she doesn't want me to leave and is making Michelle clean up her act! Things were better toward the end of the week, so we will see what happens over the next few weeks.

As I was leaving to go pick up Cooper from the dance studio on Friday night, I was ready to pull out onto Spring Cypress Road. There was a lot of traffic, and it was raining. I saw a spot where I could go, but something held me back. The next instant I saw the car coming down Spring Cypress road, and he was beginning to skid. The traffic at the light was backed up to where you turn into our subdivision, so when the car coming couldn't stop, he slammed into the back of a stopped car doing about 50 MPH! That would have been me if I had pulled out. Several other cars saw what happened, so I turned around and went out the other way to pick up Cooper. When I came home, the police, ambulance and tow trucks were there. I guess if it would have been me, at least I could have walked home!

This week has also been a busy week in pest control at our house. On Monday, when I opened the door for Cooper to go out to the bus stop, and hugh red spider, and a baby lizard just invited themselves in. Well, I picked up the rug and tossed the spider out, but the lizard got under my ficus tree by the front door. Now I really don't like lizards in the house, so I just picked up the ficus tree and slammed the pot down on him!! If he is dumb enough to hid under it, he deserves the consequences! Then on Tuesday, we go out to get in the car, and there is a wasp nest on the door frame of the garage. I got the wasp spray, and saturated the thing, and when we came home, I knocked it off with Dad's ax. Then there was one of those little tiny jumping spiders on the kitchen counter by the bar stools! I can't stand those things! I beat it to death with the paper towel roll, and then scooped up the remains and put him in the trash! Then I had to disinfect the counter where the spider guts were. (I know, GROSS MOM!) I should find a way to put out a warning to the insect and amphibian world that I no longer allow bugs inside my domain. I don't even want them thinking about coming in the house. And they definitely can't take up residence on the kitchen counter. There must be some kind of bug newspaper where I could take out an ad....or maybe a pest control newsletter. Maybe I should call the Orkin man and see how he gets his news out to the bugs. And NOW, there are three spiders building a hugh web outside on the front of the house where the chains hang between the porch light. I am just not messing around...I am going to sic Dad on them with his power washer. They simply won't know what hit them.

The other pestilence we seem to have are about a million 1/2" frogs that seem to have taken up residence in our yard. They just jump on everything! You would think we live in a SWAMP! Is there some kind of plaque that has come from Egypt? I hope when Dad mowed the lawn yesterday that he mowed their houses.....can't you just see all the mother frogs calling all the babies so they didn't get chopped when Dad passed over. And I hope they have good insurance coverage for roofs because Dad cut the lawn short since he had fertilized. If it doesn't soon stop raining every day, we are going to have to build an ark! At least Dad won't have to look very hard for the frogs!! Rhinos, tigers, pandas, lucky dogs, and elephants are probably guaranteed a spot in the ark too.

On a more serious note, we have discovered that Neil Shepherd (you kids know him from England) who now lives in New Zealand is fighting for his life. He has some kind of cancer where he had a stem cell transplant. And Ethan Brown, the doctors think his liver tumor was too close to the blood vessels, so that some of the cells are probably in his bloodstream. If that is the case, it will show itself again probably in his lungs or brain. He has a very aggressive type of cancer. Not good news for that little 5 year old! They removed the entire tumor, but have discovered this in the tissue that they also had to remove around the tumor. He will have some more chemo as soon as his mom gets the appointment.

Well, a few extra prayers for these two wouldn't hurt. I hope you all have a great week, and study hard!

We love you all very much.

Mom
