Another Wedding

Monday, April 9, 2007

Well, after being in Provo planning a wedding with the Bride and Groom To Be, I came home and went to bed. Alseep by 8:45 - 9:00pm and awake again at 6:30am. See what you kids do to your mother! And, my cough is back! :( I got a bit of a rest from it in Provo, but it is back. BUMMER!!

Well, we went to the Bridal shop in Provo, and after looking through the racks of dresses, we chose 7 to try on. We got a consultant, and then started the process of dressing the Bride. Did you know that you have to have about 7 layers under a wedding dress? Boy things have changed since I got married. Those dresses sometimes have a mind of their own poufing out wherever they want to pouf, and dragging the floor. I decided that Shyla needs some little tiny people under her dress to pouf her everytime she moves. Maybe we could hire Thumbelina! And petticoats have a mind of their own, you just get them all straight, and then you have to crawl back under the dress and fight the tulle wars all over again....and speaking of tulle wars...I thought I was done with those for a while, but rumor has it that a certain mother of the bride was seen in several fabric stores buying some more of the stuff. What has possessed me???

Several spools of thread report that pink polka-dots are also on the shopping list, and will hopefully be on the shipping list soon. Special orders relayed that the JoAnn delivery truck will shortly be delivering several bolts of pink polka-dot fabric to the store. Now if those little computers could just come up with some chocolate tulle, this mother of the bride might actually be able to stay home and get started on altering some dresses, and making some others.

The ribbon rack at Hobby Lobby is a little slimmer tonight. Several spools of pink gingham ribbon called this editor to report that some crazy person is buying all the pink and brown with polka-dot ribbon on the shelf. It seems this woman was seen balancing 4 boxes of silk rose petals and about 8 spools of ribbon. What was really funny, states the ribbon rack, was when the woman dropped one spool of ribbon and then bent down to pick it up, and then all the spools went rolling away and the rose petals spilt all over the floor! THAT WAS JUST SO MUCH FUN!

Cake knives located on the top shelf tell us that it was pretty funny to watch the mother round up all the spools of ribbon and stuff them in her purse. Where are the security guards when you need them? Why didn't she get a shopping cart to begin with? That's the burning question in our minds. However, once rounded up and piled neatly, the woman walked to the check out stand, where a young man who didn't know what he was doing checked her out. When he was done, the woman told him he had given her everything for 50% off, but was only supposed to do the ribbon half off. He didn't seem impressed, but just kept bagging everything. So, the woman went home only paying 50% of everything she bought. Guess we can afford those rose petals after all!

Cooper and Cymbre are celebrating tonight because they get to dance their solos adjunicated on Saturday, but still qualify for the overall awards on Sunday. Guess the Hall of Fame people really do understand about Mormons. We just found out tonight. GREAT! Just what I want to do, sit at the competition all day and night! Should get some great pictures though.

It was fun meeting our new son-in-law to be over the past few days. He is very tall, but you can see that he loves Shyla. We had a great time getting things done for the wedding, and we even tried to get into the jewelry store after it was closed. Thank goodness, no one called the police on us! I must admit, Russ looks pretty good in that tux he rented, but Dad still gets my vote. Sorry Shyla, mines better!

Speaking of Dad, I think I will go to bed...:)!

Those of you who still have homework to do...get on it! Just a few more days, then you get a break. Those of you who belong to me, remember that Dad and I love you. (That means Russ and Holly too!)

Good luck on those finals, and remember to talk to your Heavenly Father.

Love you.

Mom

PS. Russ--take care of that daughter of mine...make sure she eats and gets enough sleep. The days are going to be really busy soon. And remember, she is one of my most prized possessions.
