It's Wednesday, and Cymbre is having Dylan over. Cooper is going swimming at Taylor's. That will keep them occupied until almost the time Dad comes home. Guess I get to do what I want this afternoon....may start a white baby blanket, or sew, or clean out the pantry.
I managed to get appointments with both the new orthodontists that our dentist wants us to go see. Changing orthodontists is a real pain. Our current one is fighting with the dentist regarding Cymbre's treatment, and that isn't going over very well with the parents. I think she is pull teeth happy!
I think Dad has the storage unit mostly cleaned out...Cymbre thinks the bathroom looks like a rainforest over by the whirlpool. I put a couple of the ficus trees back in there. I had some, then gave them to Britni, and now they are back.
I have two scrub tops done, and am working on the third one. Britni will love them.
Cooper got to work on her pointe solo with Ms. Casey. That thing is going to be hard. She has to go slow, and that's really hard for Cooper. She usually goes fast in tap and jazz, so this will be good for her.
Cymbre is starting her Jazz solo with Ms. Andee when she gets back from NYC. I'm glad Andee got to go. It will help her with the girls.
It's triple digits here again today...I can hardly wait for middle of August.
Well, my back is finally feeling a bit better after the last bout of spasms! Thank goodness! I hate sleeping propped up on piles of pillows just so I can breathe without sharp pain. Better today though. We'll see how long it lasts.
Dad finally changed the hands on the clock Caleb built at school...we can finally see what time it is in the office. The problem was, the background of the clock is dark, and they had him put dark hands on it. Now we have pretty gold hands that actually go with the numbers. It's really pretty now.
We found Cooper the sweaters she wanted for school, and Cymbre loves her rhino shoes. Cooper is waiting for her kangaroo shoes. She ordered them online, but they haven't come yet. They are backordered, so it could be a couple of more weeks.
Shyla and Russell are in the middle of packing and loading, and moving. What a pain for them! Wish we could have gone to help, but Dad just couldn't get away right now.
We have the ok to use the material we bought for the pointe solo costume from Ms. Casey, so I guess I could start working on that. We have a picture...so that means drawing pattern pieces again! THAT'S better than ton of tulle! We think we know what we are doing for Cymbre's jazz, but we are waiting to see what Ms. Andee comes up with in NYC. She was going to look for some costumes for the girls while she was there. I am hoping that she finds some, then I don't have to make all of them this year.
Andee found a really good song for a duet for the girls. I am hoping that we can come up with the money for them to do it this year....I already told them if we do, they need to have a cheaper costume for it. It would be either tap or jazz. Andee just stumbled onto the song, and brought it to listen to. The girls loved it.
Dad has to take the car back to the dealer. The passenger back door is having issues with the lock. It doesn't like to lock or unlock. So, since it's still under warranty, he is going to take it back...probably one day next week. At least before school starts again. Once school starts, I can't be without a car. I have to get the girls everyday for off campus PE. Cymbre can still ride the bus to school, but they have cut out all buses for kids less than 2 miles to school. You have to be handicap, or special ed to ride this year. It's all budget cuts. Cooper won't ride a bus this year as she will carpool from seminary to school. Then I will pick her up everyday, and hurry to get Cymbre.
Dad dug up some more of the holly bushes out in the front. He hated those bushes, and they were looking scraggly, so now they are gone. Don't know what he will put in their place. I guess I have to help decide, but maybe we just won't do anything.
Guess that's about all the news for today...guess I will go get some lunch.

Sunday Morning
July 26, 2009
It's Sunday morning, and Cymbre and I are home from church. She has a fungus growing on her leg that is itching terribly, and my back is having it's spasms again. I am going to make a Doctor appointment for my back one day soon! Laying down to sleep is becoming increasingly more uncomfortable! Dumb back! It interfers with all my fun some days.
We have been continuing to get things clean out, cleaned up, and organized, and sorted through. Making very good progress. Dad is finishing up the attic, and is cleaning out the storage unit. That money will now help to pay Ms. Andee for a private lesson once a month to work on harder tap steps.
The girls have been invited back to the Mark Goodman Totally Tap thing again this year....I guess we will go to Columbus, Ohio in October. Guess we will get to see just a tiny bit of where Caleb was for two years on his mission. Dad says the weather will probably be better there in October, than in North Carolina in January. And in January, the girls are going to the Jump Dance Convention anyway. Dad is looking into reservations this next week. Shyla will need to cooperate and not have the baby that weekend.
Ms. Andee and Ms. Kristin are in NYC this next week, and they are going to look for some costumes for the girls. I told them, call me before you buy anything. Some of those places can be really expensive, but I trust Andee to make a good decision.
We managed to get tickets to see Mary Poppins here in Houston. The Broadway group is touring, and Cooper wanted to see Bert tap dance on the ceiling again. Cymbre hasn't seen it, so we have tickets to see it on November 7th. Again, we are hoping that Shyla will cooperate, and Mom can be back in Houston. If not, they will get a friend to use Mom's ticket.
Cymbre is cleaning out the marker drawers today...you know, taking out all the ones that don't work....should cut down on some space there.
Cooper and Cymbre have their sewing machines out again....Cooper made another purse, and Cymbre is working on pillow cases, and finishing a couple of baby things. Then they are going to work on some dresses we got patterns for, and pillows for their beds.
The girls have almost finished rhinestoning their Koenig jackets. Just have to wait on the last of the stones to get here....I had to order some more crystal 20's to finish the arm strips.
Cooper is supposed to work on her pointe solo, and start her trio this next week. She is thrilled to see Ms. Casey again. The trio is with Jessica, and all three girls seem to be excited about that one.
We are having some friends come over this week...the girls are beginning to get bored with just Mom all day, so I am importing friends. School starts on August 24th, so they don't have to much more time to squeeze in all the fun they still want to have. At least we have all the doctor appointments done, and new glasses bought. The school supplies are all bought, so it's just a few clothing items left to find....Cooper wants long corduroy pants, and they aren't in the stores yet. And they both want a trip to Forever XX1. We also still have to go to the outlet mall baby shopping with Ms. Christine next door. I think she plans on spoiling Shyla's baby just a bit!
Dad and I are getting the baby a swing, but are waiting to have it shipped until they are settled in California. That is happening this next week. I must say, I am glad it is them moving and not Dad and I .... We have done our fair share of that over the years. I guess I will be going to California when the baby comes instead of Utah.
Cooper is beginning to read her summer reading assigned book, so that means school must be getting closer. We have the off campus stuff set up for both girls, and the dance stuff is set up, so hopefully, this next year will be a happier year for them both. Last year, with the dance mess, they were miserable.
Well, that's about all the news for this morning....I think I may go sit on a pillow and try to do some sewing...I am working on the scrub tops I have cut out for the nurse in our family. Although, rumor has it that she doesn't need them, but she likes to have new ones that Mom makes. Also decided to get a start on PJ pants for this Christmas. I have bought some of the material, and want to get some done before I have to do costumes again.
Everyone have a great week, and remember to talk to your Heavenly Father. Send special hugs and kisses to Grandpa Petersen....
Love you.

What You Can Find On The Kitchen Counter!
July 22, 2009
Ok, so I am trying to find the top of the kitchen counter over by the dishwasher. You all know it, the spot where EVERYDAY everyone just piles the papers that somehow need Mom's attention (and most things dont' really need attention)! Well, today, at least this morning I have spent the entire time going through that stuff.
Here's what I found:
Pictures to be mailed
Graduation cards that need a check and to be sent
Magazine renewals to be done
Coupons to clip
Subscription cancellation letters to write
Competition programs
Dad's fortune cookie fortune...I think that one needs a frame for his office since it's about obeying gravity!
Cymbre's birthday list
Last day of school papers
Garbage papers
Tap University papers
Solo rehearsal times papers
Church News
Magazine to mail to Britni
Jacks baby blessing notes
Earrings
Perfume sample...I wanted to remember the name of the perfume to add to my birthday list...just my luck it's not on the bottle.
Solo CD for Ms. Andee
TP's new address
Lenorris's phone number
Today's mail
I think that's everything....I've made it through about half the pile. I will keep trudging along, but will have to stop to go to the orthodontist with Dad....we are discussing tooth pulling. I'm not for it, and neither is our Dentist. Dad is going to sort it out...she is saying she didn't tell me to get them pulled when both girls and I saw her fill out the paper and she called me back to talk to me. Interesting! Three to one! Someone's not being truthful. In the end, I think I will be looking for a new orthodontist. I just don't trust her anymore. Why should I pay her?
In other news:
Photos are are the way to a friendly mailbox near you...keep watching!
Solo times are on the calendar - now we won't miss them.
The girls are rhinestoning their Koenig jackets, and I must say, doing a tremendous job! Between their sewing skills and stoning skills, I may soon be able to retire (in 10-15 years)!
Our Itunes still isn't working....and the Itunes people don't know...they have the secretaries backing their customer service desk. No wonder no one can help a person. I am just dumping it off the computer.
I finished a green baby blanket...now I just have to decide what baby to give it too...already sent one to Shyla and Jack got his last year. Guess I will just put it away for future use when I don't have time to make another one. It's just a pattern I wanted to try to crochet, and it turned out lovely. I am biased though!
Well, better get back to the paper chase...who knows what China is pushing up!
Love you all.

School Shopping!
July 14, 2009
The girls and I have been shopping for school supplies, dance supplies, school clothes, and going to their doctor appointments this week. Just have to find the right pencil bags now....they like a certain one because the zipper doesn't break! Why don't we just be picky?
Cooper has been teaching at the dance studio every morning with Ms. Andee and Ms. Kristin, and then both girls dance every evening except Friday. Friday is just relax night.
Dad is trying to keep the grass alive....with the heat above 100 everyday, and no rain, it's kind of a challenge. He stayed home a day and worked on the sprinkler heads to make sure they were all doing their job, but still the grass is suffering in some spots. They have instituted a volunteer water rationing thing, but we haven't seen anyone really cut back on anything. We have, but our little bit won't do much. We really need some Texas Thunder storms!
Cymbre's knee seems to be doing ok, it gets sore after all evening of dance....but she is holding her own. She is really wanting Ms. Andee to start her jazz solo.
Dad and I went to Outback tonight...it was fun. I just had salad and a baked potatoe as usual though. We brought home a loaf of bread for the girls.
Guess that's about all the news for tonight....must find a minute to get the photos off the camera from nationals. Maybe tomorrow.
Love you.

Would You Like Some Soap With That Splash?
July 10, 2009
We are back from the Hall of Fame National Dance Competition, and the girls did really well considering....
We were travelling without Dad...I really don't like that! I have to do more U-turns when Dad isn't with us to do the driving, and I have to do the luggage which I am convinced is his job!
Monday Cooper's asthma really flared up and she was having an attack on the day she had to dance her three solos....we managed to get her through her Stand Out solo, but then she was in tears saying that she just didn't have the energy to do both the other two....
So, I went backstage and talked to the stage manager and explained that her asthma was really acting up because of the wind, and he told me they would put her on stage whenever she was ready the rest of the week. ( A totally different story than I used to get from the old studio!) So I went back to Cooper, and we decided that she would try to get through her tap solo, Come Dance With Me, in hopes of getting a good score for Ms. Andee. Well, I went out to the car to get her dance shoes, and discovered that her water bottle had leaked all over her jazz and tap shoes. Of course, the tap shoes were the wettest! All I could think of was how I was going to dry them out in a couple of hours! Well, all the restrooms in the hotel just had paper towels to dry your hands....haven't they heard about the Green movement? So, Cymbre stuffed the tap shoes with paper towels, and then put them on, and jumped up and down for a few minutes, replaced the towels, more jumping! Finally, at least they weren't dripping, so we put them on the air conditioner vent....of course, it was too hot for the heater to need to be on. And there wasn't a fan I could use. (In hindsight, I should have just gone back to the hotel, and used the blow dryer!) Hindsight is always very clear! Instead, we just hoped that we wouldn't need to offer the judges soap and a towel to go with the squirts of water that could possibly come out of her tap shoes! When she went on stage to perform, I was just hoping that I wasn't going to have to go out there and mop the stage after she was done, and that sopping wet tap shoes still made the tap noises they are supposed to make! We lucked out!!!! She got a 1st place High Gold, and a Fabulous Feet Award for the dance! Her jazz solo got a High Gold. Both are very good for a national contest. These things only happen to Cooper.... more drama the next day....
Tuesday, the asthma is a bit better, but we are doing our best to keep her out of the wind....which is hard in the city named the "Windy City".
Cooper decides that she will try to dance her pointe solo, Bert's Song, in the morning....so I go backstage and tell them that she is getting ready. Well, she got dressed, tied her pointe shoes on, and then tried to stand up....MAJOR WOBBLY ANKLES! What is the deal? We thought is was her new shoes, but we banged them up like you are supposed to do, and still....wobbly ankles. She did her exercises, she stretched, more exercises, more trying to stand on them....tears, stress, finally a call to the ballet teacher, Ms. Casey. Eat some protein...and wait a bit. I ran to McDonalds for chicken strips. I know, not the best protein, but there wasn't time for anything else. We were trying to get this danced before the lunch awards, so that Cymbre could dancer her solo, and they could do the duet.
While we waited for the protein to kick in, we called Ms. Andee for Cymbre's pep talk, and got Cymbre dressed for her solo....Fun, Fun, Fun. Then finally we got Cooper on stage. She did well, another 1st place High Gold.
By the time we finished with Cooper in the one room, Cymbre was late in her room. They were running 45 minutes early, so it wasn't our fault. They immediately put her on stage, and she got a 1st place High Gold. Just the duet left.
We went backstage to dress, and everything was going fine until Cymbre ripped her dress. Thank goodness for the tulle fluff on the front of the costume, and dark lining! We just pinned the fluff stragetically, and hoped for the best. Well, the dress held up, but Cooper's wig came off right at the end....I don't think anyone saw it because it was just as they were leaving the stage. Another 1st Place High Gold.
We were done competing, now it was just attend the master classes for Tap, and Cooper had her All Star rehearsals. Those went on all week, and the show was Friday night. Cooper did a wonderful job in the tap section, and suddenly during the performance the Hip Hop choreographer came to her and asked her if she could learn choreography fast. She can, so she had about a minute and a half to learn the hip hop section before they were on stage! I didn't know she would be on stage for that part so I wasn't looking for her, but we got some photos of the tap part. I ordered the DVD, and will be anxious to see her in it.
Wednesday, Cymbre developed an ear infection so that meant that I had to find one of those Urgent Care places and take her. Turns out there was on right across the parking lot from the hotel....and the doctor was really nice. They even had a machine in the lobby that dispensed the medicine....really neat....no trip to the pharmacy.
We enjoyed the hotel swimming pool and watching dances during our down time, and even got some ice cream at Ben and Jerry's. Yes, we ate it with little plastic spoons!
I was really glad to come home to Dad again....now we are just cleaning out the upstairs and getting ready for school to start again....August 24th.
Next week is Eye Doctor, Allergist, and Dr. Appointments. And Dance.
I'm packing away this years costumes, and beginning to think about next years. Andee is going to NYC and will be looking around for costumes too. I am thinking I would like to buy some of the costumes this year instead of make them all....we'll see what we can find.
That's about all the news for last week. I'll put some photos on when I get them off the camera....
Have a great week.
