Ok, so we are sitting as a family at the movie theater on Friday night watching the Letter's To Juliet movie. Then about half was through, Cymbre needs to use the restroom. I went with her as there are some wierdos that like to hang out at our movie theaters. Once there, she tells me that she is very itchy....so I look at her. SHE IS COVERED in itchy spots! I gave her a benedryl that I always keep in my purse. We watched the movie for a few more minutes, and she just kept getting worse. So now, I say to Dad, does he think I should take her to the urgent care center. We decided that I should. So, the two of us left the movie....in the middle....and went over to the center. We left Dad with no car....
Once at the center, they took her basically right in after I did the paperwork. Dr. Mufasa...not really his name, but he calls her Simba, so she calls him that was the doctor there....He came in and looked at her and said she needs a steroid shot. And he was going to mix in some more benedryl He wanted her to have an adult dose to slow down the allergic reaction she was having! GREAT!!!
We couldn't figure out what caused it though...she had worn sunscreen all day at school because they were outside for a game day, and she had worn bug spray. When we went to the movie, she has a bit of a headache, so I gave her Motrin, which she has also taken for years. She was sitting there eating popcorn, and a Dr. Pepper which she does all the time.
So, we stayed until they were sure the extra dose of benedryl and the steroids were going to resolve the situation, and then he gave me a perscription for more steroids if it continued, or came back.....and we went back to the theater to get Dad and Cooper.
OK, so WHY does it ALWAYS have to be CYMBRE? She is still very itchy today, so I just got back from getting her the other steroids....she is still taking the adult benedryl dose, which the doctor told me to give her until she wasn't itchy anymore. It would help to prevent things from getting worse....OK...I know that because we have been through this same kind of thing with Cooper, however, she ended up in the hospital having epi shots every few hours and being packed in ice. She is getting some wonderful rest though...which is very good for her knees!
We are finally going to get Cymbre some new glasses tomorrow....that should be fun explaining to her regular eye doctor what all these specialists have to say about her eye....I am taking the letters from the neuro opthamologist. AND, she won't need her eye dialated since Dr. Lee just did it last month. I am so not looking forward to all this explaining tomorrow.
I have been making all the doctor checkup appointments for all of us...you know the well kid checkups, dentist appointments, eye doctor, allergist. It seems like I spend all summer just going to the doctor.....and we already have had our fair share of doctors since the beginning of the year. Thank goodness for insurance!
The girls are MORE THAN READY to be done with school....me too....I just hate that routine. School, homework, dance, pack lunches, bed...just to redo everything the next day. We are ready for some sewing, shopping, going to see Papa time!
Cymbre took brownies to share with her school friends last week...they were having a lunch time birthday party for those whose birthdays are during the summer....and Cooper is taking pizza on Tuesday this week. Cooper will also get out of school early beginning the end of the week and all next week because of finals.
SO, my list of comings and goings is very long, and I have to remember to go pick up medicine at both schools before the end of the year.
Hemmed a prom dress for a friend's daughter this week, and hopefully, that will be the last one. I just hate hemming those tulle things....thankfully, this one I just did was just straight. I really must get one with the Grandma box sewing again....we are having two new ones during the next year.
The Aunties and I are hoping for a boy for Shyla and Russell, and a girl for Caleb and Holly. We'll see. Rumor has it that Russell is looking forward to when their baby comes because he thinks I will catch up the ironing again......well, this time I have a grandbaby to play, so we'll see how much time I have.
Gary and Jean will be here to visit the end of the week....not sure what we will do, but we need to think of something.
Cymbre's physical therapy is going well, although she is very sore. That dumb muscle shrunk back up while she was in her casts...why was that necessary?
Cooper is beginning to get better at driving....I let her take me when I have an errand, and she is finally beginning to get the hang of parking in her spot. We have spent hours practicing parking...in a space, back out, go find another space, back out, for find another space. Dad actually took her on the highway last night....she said she was scared.
Had a GREAT time skyping with the grandbabies this past week...it is SO FUN to actually see them. And I actually showed off my keychain again to a lady at school....bet she's sorry she asked to see it. Oh well, that's what Grandma's do!
Well, I guess that's about all the news for today...I am going to find something to sew in the sewing room.
EVERYONE reading this needs to help someone out this week.....look for someone you don't know, and do something special for them. Drop off a happy meal to that homeless person on the street corner, or a cold water bottle. Take a brownie to your favorite teacher. Call a lonely friend....help out a college student.
Love you bunches......
